Grace, Annabelle, Jun-Jun, and Carlo, I met these kids at Inayawan, Cebu – a place where the big municipal landfill is at. You get to meet a lot of families who are still dependent on garbage (just like in the Calahunan Dumpsite, Iloilo), children just collect things from the filthy mountain of people’s daily wastes. I know. It’s sad. 🙁
Annabelle is really having a good time. 🙂
I bonded with them and talked to them as if I were a local there, but my “Cebuano” skills are genuinely not blending in with the setting. Then again, you could really see that they are having a great time. It’s truly inspiring.
Objectively speaking, traveling does make you a better person. It makes you a better person than you were before. Why?
- Traveling teaches you how to adapt. New experiences are always everywhere, even in the city that you have spent most of your life in.
- Traveling gives you a new PERSPECTIVE of how some parts of the world is. Every culture is something extraordinary and experiencing it will let you expand your knowledge.
- Traveling teaches you new things. The more you travel, the more it opens your eyes.
- Traveling makes you a complete person. “The more you know, the more you grow.” It’s stepping out of your comfort zone.
That’s why I won’t be stopping. 8)
